Today, Soochow University consists of 5 campuses with a total area of more than 2.05 million square meters and a construction area of around 1.33 million square meters. The university library has a collection of over 4 million volumes and subscribes to over 2,800 domestic and foreign journals and magazines. Soochow University publishing house edits and publishes Sooochow University Academic Journal in four different editions as well as many other scholarly works.

Soochow University takes an active part in international academic exchange and has established cooperative and exchange relationships with more than 100 universities and institutions in United States, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Russia, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, etc. The university accepts over 1,600 international students every year to study in its various programs.

School of Overseas Education is a special faculty responsible for overseas students' recruitment, administration, and teaching of Chinese as a second foreign language. The school offers a range of programs to overseas students year round: long-term program of Chinese language, short-term program of Chinese language and Chinese culture, short-term program of Chinese economy, undergraduate program of Chinese language, master program of Chinese language and senior advanced-study Chinese language program. Each year, there are approximately 1000 overseas students enrolled in these programs, including 300 long-term degree or non-degree language students and more than 400 short-term students. The students are from more than 30 countries including Korea, Japan, America, Germany, France, Australia, England, and Malaysia, etc.

In recent years, Soochow University has been making full use of strong economic strength as well as favorable cultural and geographic conditions of South Jiangsu region to explore effective ways to optimize the regional economic construction and social development. The teachers and students are doing their best with unprecedented verve, courage and insight to build up Soochow University into a national first-rate comprehensive university.
