HUAZHONG AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY
Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) has a history of over 100 years. Its predecessor, Huazhong Agricultural College (HZAC), termed Hubei Agricultural College in 1940, was derived from Hubei Farming School (HFS) established in 1898 by Zhang Zhidong, governor-general of the Huguang region. In 1952 when China's high institutions were restructured HZAC was founded, merging Agricultural College of Wuhan University with Hubei Agricultural College, the Agricultural College of Henan University, the Agricultural College of Nanchang University, the Agricultural College of Guangxi University, the Agricultural College of Sun Yat-sen University and some departments of Hunan Agricultural College. HZAC had its name changed to HZAU in 1985.
Covering an area of 495 hectares, the campus of Huazhong Agricultural University contains well-spaced teaching blocks and lab buildings and is surrounded on three sides by clear lakes and backed by green hills, making it an ideal place for teaching and research.
HZAU consists of 18 colleges and departments. Featuring life science, HZAU also gives much emphasis on the rational disciplinary construction of agriculture, sciences, engineering, arts, law, economics, and management.
Huazhong Agricultural University boasts 6 national key (specialized) laboratories, 4 national R&D centers, 19 provincial and ministerial key (open) laboratories, 24 provincial and ministerial R&D centers, and 2 provincial humanities and social sciences research base. Significant results have been achieved in the fields of hybrid rapeseeds, green super rice, lean swine, animal vaccines, high-quality citrus, potato microtuber, and transgenic cotton. HZAU is the only higher education institution which has obtained the title of Advanced Unit in the Implementation of the National Program "863".
Huazhong Agricultural University has constructed 32 national top-quality courses, and the annual employment rate of college graduates has been kept at around 94% for the past few years, taking the leading position among the national colleges and universities while 30% of the graduates has entered into postgraduate schools for further study right after graduation with 60% of them specializing in the fields of professional superiority and characteristics. HZAU has produced alumni distinguished in their respective fields; among them are academicians of the two Academies, senior government officials, and well-known entrepreneurs.
Huazhong Agricultural University has established exchange and cooperation relationships with over 150 institutions of 40 countries and regions such as the United States, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Britain and France, built up joint training programs with many foreign universities. In addition, there are 20 international foundations and organizations that have developed cooperation programs with HZAU.

Huazhong Agricultural University provides International Student Apartments to international students. Well equipped Single Rooms and Double Rooms are available to international students living on campus. Rooms are all well equipped with Air Conditioner, separate toilet, separate bathroom, fridge, broadband Internet access and other facilities. There are notes for on-campus accommodation; students shall read carefully after reaching the university.
Before Moving in
Please check the appliances and furniture provided in the apartment with the list.
Before Leaving
If you are leaving for a few days, please make sure that there is nothing perishable in the fridge and no electric appliance plug-in.
Always lock your door well when you are not in the apartment. You may inform the next-door student to keep an eye on your apartment. You may entrust it with the International Student Office for precious belongings you will not take with during your absence.
Before Moving out
If you are moving out, please clean the apartment and put everything back into place as when you moved in, especially the bathroom and the fridge, before return the key.
Electricity
During the period you are living in the apartment, you need to check the apartment electricity balance notice on the blackboard at the doorkeepers’. If your apartment is going to be out of electricity, please go to the Apartment Electricity Center for deposit on time. The Center will be closed on weekends and most of the time in holidays.
