PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

 

Program Features Jilin University admits Pre-University students in 4 major disciplines including liberal art, economics and trade, science and engineering (agriculture), and Western medicine. Through one semester / one academic year intensive learning, students’ Chinese listening, speaking, reading, writing, and related courses in their chosen major can reach the undergraduate admission level. Students with outstanding results will be recommended to study at Jilin University or other high-level universities in China.

1. Through intensive and efficient learning methods, international students can make striding progress with their Chinese in a short time.

2. By making full use of comprehensive skills and training methods, and focusing more on practice than lectures, international students improve their abilities of Chinese quickly.

3. According to the needs of the undergraduates, courses, such as Basic Chinese, Practical Chinese, Vocabulary, Professional Chinese, Chinese Characters, Culture, and Physical Education, will be offered to improve students’ communicative ability in Chinese from various aspects; intensive Chinese courses are held every week to guide students to

preview and exercise.

4. Basing on the characteristics and requirements of the chosen major, courses on mathematics, chemistry or physics are offered to fully prepare the students before they enter their undergraduate study.

5. All students can participate in free HSK tutoring courses.

6. Regular tests and final examinations are implemented. The final exam is equivalent to HSK level V or above. Students who pass the examination can directly enter Jilin University for undergraduate study.

7. Class size: less than 20 people

Curriculum

1. One-semester program timetable: September- January

Class Sessions: 18 weeks / semester, 30 periods / week of Chinese (including Chinese intensive courses), 4 periods / week of supplementary courses.

Sample Schedule

2. One-academic year program timetable: September 2020 - July 2021. Class sessions: 18 weeks / semester, Chinese 28-32 periods / week (including intensive Chinese courses), 6 periods / week of mathematics, 6 periods / week of chemistry or physics. Sample Fall Semester Schedule

Notes:

1. Liberal art students do not take mathematics, chemistry or physics.

2. Professional Chinese includes medical Chinese, scientific Chinese, business Chinese, and liberal art Chinese, depending on the chosen undergraduate major.

3. According to the major and Chinese Proficiency of the applicants, the schedule for courses on mathematics, chemistry or physics will be adjusted

Application Requirements

1. Applicants must have a high school diploma, in good health and qualified in all subjects.

2. Chinese Proficiency Requirements: One-semester program: HSK level III or higher. One-academic year program: No Chinese proficiency requirement, but applicants need to pass an admission interview organized by College of International Education.
