2. Survey

The activities of this summer camp are designed by a team of excellent teachers from Jilin University, covering Comparative Analysis of the Economic Development Modes of China and Other Countries, among other courses in English, lectures on Chinese Culture, field trip to enterprises, etc. The summer camp aims at facilitating international students to know China’s economic situations, experience Chinese culture and feel China’s charm.

II. Jilin University and Changchun City

Jilin University (JLU) is a key comprehensive university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1946 and strongly supported by China’s “Project 211” and “Project 985”. And in 2017 it was selected as a “national first-class university”. With a student body of over 73,000, JLU offers a wide range of disciplines in 47 colleges or schools, covering 13 academic categories. JLU ranks No. 10 among top Chinese universities in 2018 (by cuaa.net).

Changchun City, in which JLU is located, lies in the center of Northeast China. Nicknamed “the spring city in North China”, Changchun is known as Chinese “Movie City”, “Motor City”, “Forest City”, and “University City”. With fresh air, agreeable weather and top degree of greenness among Asian megacities, Changchun is listed as one of the top 4 Chinese garden cities. The city also wins “the happiest Chinese city” in 9 consecutive years. The number of annual sunny days of Changchun ranks No. 4 among all Chinese cities. It is also the first city to consider as a resort to escape from summer heat from June to September.

By now JLU has built partnerships with 289 universities and research institutes from 40 countries and regions. In 2018, JLU admitted 2,415 international students from 115 countries. Colorful campus activities and various societies are organized for international students. Among them, the most popular annual events are International Cultural Festival, Talent Show, Sports Meeting, Host Family, Culture Experience, Social Practice, etc. Every year JLU runs short-term study programs and culture experience programs, receiving students from Korea, Japan, Germany, Australia, Argentina, Djibouti, and other countries and regions.
