PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

 

Flexible Schooling

There are both spring and autumn intake each year. Students who have HSK 4 above 180 scores are eligible to apply. Students who have higher Chinese proficiency are possible to start from a higher level and graduate in less than 4 years (at least 3 years) if they meet the relevant requirements.

Scholarships

Based on one's attendance rate, academic improvement and daily performance, excel lent students will have opportunities to receive scholarships offered by DHU (Outstanding International Student Scholarships), Chinese government (Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Scholarship) and enterprises.

Study Abroad 

DHU has signed a bunch of student exchange agreements with overseas universities, which offer excellent students to study abroad. While enriching one's international experiences and broadening their views, a certain credits aquired at host institutions will be recognized and transferred to DHU credits.

Knowledge of Business and Trade

Students will not only learn Chinese language and culture, but also will have access to basic theories and practices of economics and management. It is also possible to choose business related elective courses provided by the School of Business & Management in junior and senior year.

Enterprise Internship

Under the internship agreements signed with quite a few enterprises, covering industries such as PR, Media, heavy industry, airlines, hotel, etc, students will earn practical skills in consultation, interpretation, meeting preparation, data collection and cultural exchange, etc. at their internship and get ready for future career.

Graduate Career

With the excellent Chinese language skills and deep understanding of China's economic society, our graduates are able to take an active part in various fields, such as interpretation, translation, business and administration in foreign companies, joint venture companies, private companies, etc.

Compulsory Courses

Elective Courses

General Knowledge: Physical Education, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Personal Image Management, Psychology of Happiness, Humanity and Geography of China, Chinese Folklore, Career Guidance. 

Basic Subjects: Shanghai Dialect, Chinese Idioms and Culture, HSK Tutorial, Culture of Chinese Characters, Chinese Newspaper Reading, Introduction to Linguistics, Shanghai Culture, Ancient Chinese, Comparison of Sino-Western Cultures, Translation Practice, Chinese Classic Literature Reading. 

Business Related: Chinese Business Culture, Introduction to Economics, Business English, Introduction to E-commerce. 

Up-grading

The students who have obtained all the required credits and passed the required HSK level can advance to the next grade: from Semester 2 to Semester 3, one must acquire HSK level 5 (above 180 scores); from Semester 4 to Semester 5, one must acquire HSK level 6 (above 180 scores). Those who fail the make-up tests of two or more compulsory courses in one semester are not allowed to advance to the next grade. 

Graduation

Students who have obtained 157 credits, completed the internship and passed the dissertation defense will be authorized to graduate and issued Bachelor Degree of Arts. * The distribution of 157 credits is: 124 for compulsory courses, 20 for elective courses, 2 for Practicum, 11 for essay, dissertation and internship.

1. Be a non-Chinese citizen in good health

2. Be a high school graduates between age of 16-35

☑ Application Form

☑ Passport Copy: must be the valid ordinary passport (and currently valid visa if you're not in your home country). Could be uploaded to the online application form.

☑ ID photo: Must be the ID photo in .jpg format. Could be uploaded to the online application form.

☑ High School Graduate Certificate and the transcripts of all its grades/semesters. Pending certificate & transcripts of all finished grades/semesters formally issued by this high school (with official seals or signatures) are acceptable for the application.

☑ Personal Statement:

- Essay format written in Chinese on one page of A4 size paper.

- Introducing why you are applying and what makes you suitable, including your interests and enthusiasm for the major; skills, experience or achievements gained from previous education, work or other activities; Why you choose to study in China instead of your own country, and why DHU.

☑ Certificate of HSK: At least HSK 4 above 180 scores certificate received within the recent two years.

*These copies must be in English or Chinese with the official stamp/signature of the high school or authorized educational institute. If they're not in English or Chinese, notarized translated copies must be submitted. DHU reserves the right to ask applicants for supplementary materials.

*All the students are required to take the placement test at the enrollment which includes oral test and written test. According to the result of placement test, students will be placed to different class levels

*All the application materials collected by DHU will not be returned.

*Insurance: RMB 800/year

The insurance, medical exam fee and visa application fee are charged by PingAn Insurance Company, designated hospital and Shanghai Entry-Exit Administration Bureau respectively

*Chinese Visa Cost:

  • Entrance Visa Application Fee: vary from country to country Medical Examination Fee in Shanghai: approx. RMB 500
  • 4-year Study Visa Application Fee: RMB 1.200

*Other Living Costs (per month): This expense includes meals, laundry, local transportation, personal items, etc. This will vary from person to person. 

  • Meals on campus: approx. RMB 1.500
  • Personal Expenses: approx. RMB 2.500
