  • Traced back to the physics course offered by Advanced Normal School, the Imperial University of Peking in 1904, the foundation and development of physics has been an intrinsic part of the century-long history of Beijing Normal University, where Department of Mathematics and Physics was founded in 1911, followed by the official establishment of Department of Physics in 1923. Department of Physics, Beijing Normal University, is one of the first education institutions qualified to confer doctorate degree of condensed matter physics and theoretical physics. Currently, the Department of Physics is qualified to confer Level I discipline doctoral degree and has established a postdoctoral research station, with 4 Level II discipline doctoral programs, namely theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optics and nuclear physics.
  • The International PhD Program in Physics for International Students is a unique program offered by the Department of Physics at Beijing Normal University. This program, with generous financial support from the Chinese Government, is designed to train talented individuals who can contribute to internationalization in physics and enhance academic and cultural exchange between China and other countries. Based on the rich resources of the Department of Physics at Beijing Normal University, this international program is supported by a team of professors and faculty members, and aims to become a high quality and world-class international program.
  • The program aims to train talented individuals from all over the world so that they will develop a deep understanding and good command in experimental physics, or theoretical physics. The students who receive Ph.D. degrees from this program will have a good chance to work at universities, institutes, companies and in other related areas.
  • We sincerely welcome students from countries across the world to apply for this international program, co-creating multiple and proactive cultural atmosphere, and to promote development of physics worldwide.
  • Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens holding a foreign passport under 50 years old.
