In 2002, Tianjin University, as one of the first universities and colleges to start undergraduate program of e-commerce in China, began to admit undergraduate of e-commerce under the department of information and management science. Tianjin University has good engineering background, the support of important disciplines of business administration, successful experience of information management and information system of related majors, and strong faculty force. E-commerce in Tianjin University focuses on cultivation of application and innovation on base of broad theoretical technology, encourages students to participate in innovation activities and provides integral conditions for students.
Cultivation
the talents of e-commerce are hard to be replaced. Besides necessary information technology, students should learn e-commerce system, e-payment, e-commerce logistics, internet marketing, development and technology of e-commerce system and other e-commerce theory and skills on base of deep business management theory. The discipline is to cultivate comprehensive talents both to understand commerce and information technology.
Postgraduate entrance and employment: the students have high employment rate, and the employment entities are mostly hot businesses, like Taobao, Jingdong, Yahoo, Tencent and other large e-commerce companies, banks and financial institutes with e-commerce as its strategic orientation, and other large enterprises and public institutions. The students with good achievements could study overseas during undergraduate period, and also be recommended to study master even doctor courses in Tianjin University and other national universities and colleges. As for further study, students could not only study the master and even doctor courses of the same program in the department of information and information system, and also get welcome from tutors of business administration, management science and engineering, financial engineering and other hot fields. Students who are willing to study abroad could study master and even doctor courses of e-commerce could also study similar courses like business administration.
General Qualifications
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport and must comply with the relevant regulations stipulated in "Document No. 12 (2020) of the Ministry of Education of the PRC."
- Must be in good physical and mental health.
- Applicants who will be under 18 years of age (as of September) must provide a notarized Letter of Guarantee from their designated guardian in China.

- Language Proficiency Certificates:
- English Taught: IELTS with an overall score of 5.5/6.0 or TOEFL iBT 85 (requirements vary by university).
- Chinese Taught: HSK 4–6 (levels and minimum scores vary by major and university).
- Academic Diplomas: High School Diploma (for Bachelor's Degree applicants) or Bachelor's/Master's Diploma (for Master's/Doctoral Degree applicants). - Two (2) Letters of Recommendation: Required from two high school teachers (for Bachelor's Degree) or two university professors/associate professors (for Master's/Doctoral Degrees). Letters must be issued on official letterhead, bear an official stamp from the institution, and include the recommender's email and phone number.

Note
- Documents 4 through 6 MUST be translated into English or Mandarin and officially legalized by the issuing institution. Alternatively, the services of a sworn translator may be utilized.
