Project Introduction

It is intended to help international students who intend to receive undergraduate education in China to improve their Chinese proficiency, professional basic knowledge and cross-cultural adaptability, and lay a solid foundation for future university studies.

Educational Objectives

Northwestern Polytechnical University International Foundation program is committed to training international students in four aspects:

1. Academic basic skills: through preparatory study, the students can transcend the differences between their own countries and China’s basic education and improve their subject knowledge structure.

2. Language application ability: through learning Chinese in an academic environment, the students can master enough professional Chinese vocabulary.

3. Career competitiveness: through preparatory study, the students will have a clearer self-awareness and become more competitive as China Hands and global people in the future workplace.

4. Cultural adaptability: through the study of Chinese culture, the students can understand Chinese academic culture, seek common ground while reserving differences across cultures, and better integrate and adapt to the cultures of various countries.

Program Introduction

1. Zero-based Intensive Courses

Applicable Object: No previous exposure to Chinese language learning

Learning Period: Early September to mid-July

Courses:

• Autumn Semester: Chinese Course and Practice Course
• Spring Semester: Chinese Course, Professional Course, Cultural Course, Technical Ability Course and Practical Course

Hours: 34 weeks (1020 hours), 30 hours per week

2. Concentrated Improving Courses

Applicable object: Learners who have passed Level HSK3

Learning Period: March to mid-July

Courses:

• Chinese Course, Professional Course, Cultural Course, Technical Ability Course and Practical Course

Hours: 17 weeks(510 hours),30 hours per week

Course Introduction

Chinese Courses

1.Comprehensive Courses: Basic Vocabulary, Sentence Structure, and Grammar;

2.Listening and Speaking Courses: Listening and Distinguishing, Pronunciation and Common Conversation Exercises;

3.Reading Courses: Sentence Analysis, Content Understanding, Summary and Generalization

*Learning Objectives: To master basic Chinese knowledge, be familiar with common conversations and acquire certain Chinese communicative competence.

Professional Courses

1.Science and Technology Direction: Science and Technology Chinese, Mathematics, Physics；

2.Business Direction: Business Chinese, Economics, International Business

*It is important to master relevant professional knowledge in advance to ensure that learners can enter professional study smoothly.

*If you graduate from this course with excellent grades and apply to NPU degree program, you will get a letter of recommendation to help you improve your chances of getting NPU President Scholarship and Admission.
