Eligibility

1. The teaching language of undergraduate major in Nanjing University is Chinese, and the Chinese level of the applicant should reach the new hsk5 level above 180;

2. The applicant should be over 18 years old, graduated from high school or above, with good grades, in good health and not a Chinese citizen;


Application Materials

(1) Application form for foreign students of Nanjing University

(2) Scanned copy of ordinary passport

Applicants in Chinese mainland also need to provide all valid scanned pages for visa pages or residence permits.

(3) Scanning copy of full time high school diploma

The Chinese or English version shall be stamped with the official seal of the school, and the diploma with language other than Chinese or English shall be provided with the official translation notarized in Chinese or English; the fresh graduates may first provide the original pre graduation certificate issued by their school, and supplement the formal documents after enrollment;

(4) Scanning copies of transcripts of all courses in Senior High School

The Chinese or English version shall be stamped with the official seal of the school, and the official translation notarized copy in Chinese or English shall be provided if the transcript not in Chinese or English;

(5) Scanning copy of HSK Chinese proficiency test certificate

Except for the major of Chinese language, all majors should reach level 5 and above 180;

For Chinese language major, the score should be above level 4 180, and for the third grade of Chinese language major, the score should be above level 5 210 (inclusive);

Students who graduated from Chinese independent secondary school and passed the unified examination of Malaysian Chinese independent secondary school are required to provide UEC certificate, but not HSK certificate;

(6) At least 1 letter of recommendation (must be in Chinese or English original)

(7) Personal statement and study plan (must be in Chinese, no less than 800 words)

(8) Other materials:

English majors should provide their IELTS score of 5.5 or above or TOEFL score of 70 or above; (TOEFL score Nanjing University acceptance code: c288)

Students applying for architecture major should provide works related to their major (at least 1 copy);

1. Application Fee: RMB 500 (non-refundable).

2. Tuition:

  • Liberal arts programs: RMB 21,000 per academic year
  • Science and business programs: RMB 24,000 per academic year
  • Software Institute program: RMB 32,000 per academic year
  • Medical School program: RMB 42,000 per academic year

3. Accommodation:

  • Xianlin Campus: International Students Apartment Building (Building 21), 12,000 RMB per academic year (single room) or 6,000 RMB per academic year (double room).
  • Gulou Campus: Xiyuan International Student Building, 52 RMB per day (one bed in double room), 67 RMB per day (single room).
  • Deposit for Campus Rooms: 600 RMB for room facilities and 1000 RMB for accommodations.
  • Off-campus: leasing or rental expenses vary in accordance with locations and apartment types, normally between 2500 to 5000 RMB per month.

4. Insurance:

  • RMB 400 per semester
  • RMB 800 per academic year

5. Physical examination fees or service fee: if required to conduct physical examination or to confirm physical examination records, payable to Nanjing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.

6. Visa or Residence Permit Fees when applying for various visas or residence documents, payable to Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

7. Library deposits of 300 RMB when borrowing books from Nanjing University Library or Library of the Institute for International Students.

8. Campus Card Fee of 20 RMB if needed.

9. University Facility Fees at student rates when using the University’s tennis courts, ping pong rooms, gyms or swimming-pools.

10. Personal expenses such as dining, medical care, textbooks, holiday tours and extra-curriculum experiments, interns or visits.
